Special citations went to N. Η. hnell Co., for work with natural one on the Shulton Company's new ffices and plant; to Gardners Mason-Contractors for interior concrete lock work on the Davis Branch MCA; and to A. W. Madewell Co., work with pre-cast stone panels the Red Cross Building. All award-nning buildings and firms are lo-ted in Memphis.

The awards, a plaque for the winner ad certificates to the honorable men-ans, were made at the third annual emphis Institute of Masonry Awards inner Jan. 27 at Colonial Country ub in Memphis. Carl O. Howe, Jr., esident of the Memphis Chapter A, made the presentation.

Featured speaker at the event was lian H. Harris, architectural sculp-r of Atlanta. Harris has done sculp-re for many buildings throughout e southeast, and is Associate Pro-ssor at Georgia Tech. He received e American Institute of Architects' ine Arts Medal in 1954.

Everett W. Cook & Sons' victory sparked the first time in the three year history of the award that a firm other than Young Brothers was in the winner's circle. The third place prize for Troy Graham Masonry Co., was an outstanding feat since the firm is not quite a year old.

Ten degree weather and two out of town conventions held the crowd to 121, of which 62 were architects. For the second straight year, every architectural firm in Memphis was represented at the event.

Discuss Masonry Cement PHOENIX, ARIZ. "Masonry Cement's Role in Unit Masonry Construction" was outlined before a recent luncheon meeting of the Arizona Masonry Guild. The discussion was presented by Robert Lowe and Palmer Ford of the Phoenix Cement Co.

The Guild also held its annual meeting Jan. 11, at Ramada Inn.

Distribute Cavity Wall Data WASHINGTON, D. C.-Copies of the proceedings, "Insulated Masonry Cavity Walls," Spring Conference of the Building Research Institute, have been distributed to regional offices of SCPI for personal distribution to architects throughout the country.

The proceedings have also been distributed to schools of architecture and engineering, as well as to governmental personnel. Belguim, Wis.
