tendance. Winner of the Elgin-Butler Brick Co. glazed brick Bar-B-que pit which was given away at the convention was Mrs. Odessa Baker, 3735 Richmond Ave., Houston, Texas. Congratulation too, to Dick Kipps of the Elgin-Butler Co. for a fine display at the MCAA Show. Walbridge, Aldinger Co., have announced the removal of their main office to 1910 West Davison Ave., Detroit 23, Michigan.
The Masonry Institute of Washington, D. C. announced that Jack W. Cooper has succeeded Col. Giles L. Evans as Executive Secretary of the group. Mr. Cooper, a native of Washington, D. C., is very familiar with the local Masonry Industry. He was formerly employed by North American Cement Corporation.... Julian R. Steelman, board chairman and president of Koehring Co., Milwaukee, Wis., was named winner of the American Road Builders' Association National Award for 1961. Steelman was unanimously designated winner of the award by the 1961 ARBA Award Committee "for outstanding contributions to the National Highway Program."
R. E. Copeland, formerly with NCMA as director of engineering, has opened a consulting office in Glen Ellyn, Ill... Recent reports from Russia indicate that an architect there has stated a mile-and-a-quarter high tower of factory made concrete blocks is "quite feasible." The late Frank Lloyd Wright designed a mile-high building for Chicago and we'll stay with him at the mile high level. Henry L. Wright, FAIA, Los Angeles, Calif., has been nominated for the presidency of the American Institute of Architects.
Clarence Bundy, Milwaukee Chapter, is doing a real first class job as Chairman of that group's Membership Committee. Attending the Meeting of Missile Site Construction Contractors in Washington, D. C. on March 5th was MCAA Ex. Vice President, George Miller. Natco Corp. has announced substantially reduced net earnings for the year ending Dec. 31, 1961 on a volume of sales which approximated those of previous years.
