calling card. For their October meeting the MCA of Milwaukee toured the Rockwell Lime Co. plant at Manitowoc, Wis. Harvey A. Raasch has been appointed Director of Foreign Operations for Koehring Co.

As of Nov. 1st, Ristokrat Clay Products Co. will take over from Conco Building Products, Inc., Mendota, Ill., all of its sales activities and will continue its brick manufacturing at Lowell, III. At the Nov. 15th Informational Meeting of the Arizona Masonry Guild Walter Dickey, Consulting Engineering, was the featured speaker. Harold D. Hauf has been appointed Professional Consultant on the staff of BRAB. Frank J. Fischer has been named Vice President for sales for the Baltimore Brick Co. SCPI will hold its 1964 Sales Engineer Training Course on January 6 thru Feb. 7 in Washington, D. C. The 3rd Biennial North Central States Apprenticeship Conference held during September was a smashing success with 820 people in attendance.

John Wellborn Root, a leader in Chicago architectural fields, died in South Yarmouth, Mass., at the age of 76. From 1914 until his retirement, he had been a member of the architectural firm of Holabird & Root. He was a recipient of the gold medal of the A.I.A. and was elected a fellow in 1937. Robert J. Eppley is the new executive vice president of Home Builders' Association of Greater Goland. Melvin E. Eberlein has been appointed Northeastern Regional Manager for Omark Ind. In a joint message to shareholders, Chairman Roy A. Shipley and President L. A. Bretz predicted profitable operations during the final quarter of 1963.


SCPI Elects Officers

R. H. Bickerstaff of Columbus, Georgia, has been named president of the Structural Clay Products Institute. Mr. Bickerstaff was a leader in the movement to bring about a consolidation of the Institute and its research arm, the Structural Clay Products Research Foundation of Geneva, Illinois. The Foundation, in an action ratified at the annual Convention of SCPI, is now a division of the Institute.

"We believe the merger is a step forward in our industry effort," Bickerstaff said. "It will make it possible for our national organization to do a more effective job for the industry. Supporting members will get better value for each dollar of dues."

Homer Bryce of the Henderson Clay Products Company, Henderson, Texas, was elected vice president of SCPI. Re-elected as treasurer was George Gammie of Chicago, and secretary, Joseph Cermak of Washington, D. C.

Stern father, sarcastically: "Say, young man, it's past midnight. Do you think you can stay with my daughter all night?"
