Dealers also report that the market for used machinery appears somewhat better than last year, and equipment rentals in most regions are holding up well or increasing.

Randy Churchill has been appointed to a district sales position in Portland, Ore., for the Gladding, McBean building products made by International Pipe and Ceramics Corp. Bidwell Masonry Co. reports a change in address. New location is 1095 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan.

New address of the Indiana Concrete Masonry Association is 2201 East 46th Street, Indianapolis. Executive Secretary Robert Walton advises that new phone number is CL. 1-1214. Clar B. Monk, who was manager of Engineering and Architectural Research at the Structural Clay Products Research Foundation until March 1963 has rejoined SCPRF as Structural Research Specialist. SCPI's 1964 Convention, scheduled for Nov. 16-18 has been moved to the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Fla.


Scholarship Awards

CHICAGO, IL.L.. Six college winners of the Portland Cement Association's regional architectural scholarship awards for 1964 will leave New York June 25 to attend this year's summer session at the Fontainebleau School of Fine Arts near Paris, France. The scholarships include transportation, tuition, board and lodging, not to exceed $1,500 each.

The contest was open to fourth year students at 68 accredited schools of architecture in the United States. Forty-one entries were received. Runners-up were selected in five regions. They were awarded plaques.

The scholarship winners and runners-up in each region were:
Eastern: Daniel William Hoffmann, Lansdowne, Pa., Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, Pa. Runner-up: Edward Jakmauh, Dorchester, Mass., Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N. Y.

Midwestern: Yui Hay Lee, Kowloon, Hong Kong, China, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Runner-up: No award.

Rocky Mountain: Jay A. Schadel, Salt Lake City, Utah, University of Utah. Runner-up: Gerald Patrick Adkins, Van Nuys, Calif., University of New Mexico.

South Central: D. E. Williams, Houston, Texas, University of Houston. Runner-up: Mis Janith Davids, Bronxville, N. Y., University of Oklahoma.

Southeastern: Allan C. Johnson, Mineola, N. Y., University of Virginia. Runner-up: Michael H. Finch, Takoma Park, Md., Clemson A & M College, Clemson, S. C.

West Central: Harrison Whiting Skinner, St. Paul, Minn., University of Minnesota. Runner-up: Charles M. Kurt, Dubuque, Iowa, Iowa State University, Ames.

Entries were selected from projects submitted by the students as part of their regular class assignments and were limited to designs meeting "residential area needs," utilizing concrete as the predominant building material.
