The Feb. meeting of the Minneapolis Chapter was a joint meeting with the St. Paul Association. Theme of the meeting was "Hands Across the River". Elbert L. Bradshaw has been elected President of the Indiana Concrete Masonry Association.
On Feb. 22nd members of the Houston Chapter heard Dick Kinsel, Lee Supply Co., discuss "What's New In Equipment". Bricklayers, Masons Plasterers International Union is preparing a Centennial Dinner commemorating their 100th Anniversary. It will be held at the new Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., Friday, Oct. 8th.
Joe Dunne, formerly of O'Laughlin Materials Co., Chicago, is now associated with Arrow Road Construction Co., Mt. Prospect, III. Ampress Brick Co. Inc. has announced the appointment of H A. Christiansen as Sales Engineer for the company in the Chicago Metropolitan area.
William J. Brown has been elected Vice President of Target Pacific Corp., according to announcement by Robert G. Evans, President. William F. Collins has announced his resignation from Gronotte & Collins, Inc. and has formed a new corporation of W. F. Collins, Inc., 1268 Tennessee Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio.
Massachusetts Governor Endicott Peabody officially opens the new Worcester Division plant of Omark Industries, Inc. with a pair of "diamond blade" scissors. New facility will manufacture diamond blades for sawing of stone, masonry and concrete. Omark Officials in ceremony are (left to right) Guy E. XMAS PARTY IN HARTFORD
HARTFORD, CONN. F & D, Inc. and Lombardo Bros., Inc. held their first Christmas Party on Saturday, December 18, for their employees at the F & D warehouse in Hartford. Other invited guests were fellow-MCAA members and local suppliers. The Yule-tide spirit flourished and a good time was had by all.

UMA ELECTS OFFICERS
SEATTLE, WASH. Frank Steffan of the Mutual Materials Co. has been elected president of the Unit Masonry Association, the first of its kind in the nation which represents a cross-section of the industry, including contractors, union members and suppliers.
Other officers include Manford Lund, Mason Contractors Association, vice president; Ralph Bolerjack, Lowell Brick & Tile Co., secretary; and Clyde Hamlett, Bricklayers Union, treasurer.
Members elected to the board of directors were Hugh Levenson, George Belden and J. B. Nelson, representing the contractors; Richard Wesson and Richard Wheeler, for clay products; and Robert DeBoer and Donald Jordan, concrete products.
Joseph Dubsky and George Bryant will represent the stone and specialities products; with Clyde Hamlett, Norman Sterling and Will Connors, the Bricklayers' Union.
Summary of Disclosure Act
Secretary of Labor W. Willard Wirtz released a summary of the Labor Department's operations under the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act during Fiscal Year 1964.
Active labor unions now reporting under the law total 52,268; totals from employers and labor relations consultants, whose reporting responsibilities are limited to specific circumstances, are 1,435 and 975, respectively.
The Department's Office of Labor-Management and Welfare-Pension Reports supervised 35 union officer elections which were rerun after investigation of complaints. Twenty-six of these were conducted voluntarily by the unions involved. Nine were directed by a court order issued on complaint of the Secretary.
In criminal actions, which mostly involved ex-union officials and employees, 76 persons were indicted on charges of embezzlement and related reporting violations. Not all cases have been tried, but 61 convictions were reported in such cases which include actions filed in previous years. As a result of litigation concluded during this period the courts ordered more than $51,000 restored to union treasuries.
