Edward F. Heimbrock, Louisville Chapter, is convalescing from surgery on his back at St. Anthony Hospital. He missed the twist and watusi over the holidays but will be in good shape for the Annual Banquet. Moving to new and larger offices is Busby Associates. American Colloid Co. has announced the closing of their warehousing facilities in Skokie, III. and the appointment of McKesson & Robbins, Inc., Chicago, III., to handle their distribution.
Montie Smallen, Portland, Ore., has a new mailing address. It is Montie Smallen, Inc., P.O. Box 06352, Portland Oregon 97206. Michael Morba, Sales Manager, Fortex Enterprises has announced the appointment of Augusto "Gus" Nazario to the position of Assistant Sales Manager for the firm. The Steel Scaffolding & Shoring Institute has offices at 2130 Keith Bldg., Cleveland, Ohio.
Re-elected Vice President of the AFL-CIO was Harry C. Bates, President Emeritus, B.M. & P.I.U. New Vice President to join the Council is Hunter P. Vermiculite Names Barron Director
SCPI NAMES GOODMAN
SCPI has selected Charles M. Goodman, FAIA, Washington, D.C., to design its new headquarters building to be built in Westgate Research Park along the Capital Beltway in Virginia. Total cost of the structure is expected to run around $760,000, according to recent estimates. Construction is planned to start sometime during the later part of 1966.
CLIPPER APPOINTMENTS
Clipper Manufacturing Co., Inc., an international manufacturer and distributor of masonry and concrete sawing, core drilling, and pavement equipment, announces two new appointments in their advertising department.
Kenneth A. Corbett has been promoted to Advertising Manager. He has served Clipper for 10 years in the Sales and Advertising Departments. He moves up from Assistant Advertising Manager, a post he has held for several years.
William C. Mabry has been appointed Assistant Advertising Director (continued on page 53)
Leslie A. Barron was named managing director of the Vermiculite Institute of Chicago at a recent meeting of its board of directors. He succeeds the late Edward R. Murphy.
Mr. Barron is well known in the construction field and allied industries as an authority on vermiculite uses and research. He has been manager of technical service for the institute since 1949, and has served on numerous committees of such organizations as the American Standards Association, American Society for Testing and Materials, and building code groups in the United States and Canada. He has also worked closely with the American Concrete Institute, American Institute of Steel Construction, and government agencies.
A registered professional engineer, Mr. Barron attended the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he specialized in architecture and mechanical engineering. He is a member of the American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers, is married, and has two children.
Ohio Lime Opens New Woodville Plant
A new $1,500,000 lime plant has started producing lime at the Ohio Lime Company, Woodville, Ohio. The project which has been under construction for over two years is designed to produce chemical and metallurgical dolomitic quicklime. The expansion project is based on the extremely high-purity dolomitic limestone quarry operated by Ohio Lime. This deposit of dolomitic limestone has the highest purity and least contaminants of any limestone quarry in the world.
Incorporated in the new plant is a system for collecting dust and scrubbing gases. The scrubbing tow- (continued on page 56)
