Mortarless Wedge Blocks

Norman L. Hancock, President of Wedge Block, Incorporated, St. Louis, today announced full union endorsement and cooperation in building with the new mortarless Wedge Blocks. In a meeting held at the company's offices in suburban St. Louis, attended by Mr. James Scales, Special Representative of the Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterers International Union of America and Messrs. L. F. Havey and Howard J. Thaller of Bricklayers Local No. 1 of Missouri, the new concept in concrete block construction received enthusiastic approval by union officials and a pledge of full cooperation by unions across the land.

Wedge Blocks were tested by the ANCO Testing Laboratories; test results indicating compliance with all requirements of ASTM Specification C90. The Compressive Strength Test C140 indicated that Wedge Blocks were more than twice as strong as conventional blocks.

Wedge Blocks have been produced on standard automated equipment with slight modifications to accommodate the double-V configuration of the four interlocking sides. Mass-produced blocks fit together in perfect alignment vertically, horizontally and in straight rows leaving only hair-line cracks between courses. No mortar to mix, no joints to strike, a Wedge Block wall is laid more than three times faster than conventional blocks.

In addition to all these advantages, the new Wedge Blocks measure one block to the running foot and two blocks to the vertical foot, making calculations for estimating and ordering a simple mathematical exercise.
