Appoint da Cunha
The appointment of Ary da Cunha as manager of market development, construction products, Norton International Inc., has been announced. He will be assigned special projects to advance market penetration for Norton construction products on a world-wide basis. These products, primarily saws and blades for cutting tile, brick and concrete for highway, airport and building construction, are produced by Norton Company's Construction Products Division in Kansas City.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. da Cunha was general manager, foreign operations, Clipper Manufacturing Company (now identified as Norton Company's Construction Products Division).


Prusa Joins BTEA
(Continued from page 11) post until the end of the year when Prusa will assume his duties as Executive Manager. Hull will be retained as a consultant to the Association through labor contract negotiations in 1970.

A nationally-known figure in construction associations, Hull looks back on a long and successful career in labor relations. He has served as BTEA Executive Manager since 1958. During the past decade the Cleveland area had enjoyed one of its most peaceful eras in terms of relatively few construction work stoppages, strikes and jurisdictional disputes.

A graduate of Iowa State University with a BS degree and the University of Iowa Law School, JD degree, Hull is a member of the bar in Iowa, Ohio and other states. After practicing law in Iowa he served with the U.S. Department of Labor and with the National Labor Relations Board for 19 years in Cleveland, the last ten as Regional Director. He is a member of the Labor Advisory Committee of the American Arbitration Association, the Cleveland Engineering Society and serves as secretary to several construction associations. The Cleveland Chapter of the MCAA is an affiliate of the Building Trades Employers' Association.


AIA Elects Allen
Rex Whitaker Allen, FAIA, of San Francisco, has been elected President of The American Institute of Architects, succeeding George E. Kassabaum, FAIA, of St. Louis.

Mr. Allen, of Rex Whitaker Allen and Associates, San Francisco, served for the past year as First Vice President and President-elect of the Institute, and for the previous two years as Secretary.

The 1969 Convention also elected Robert F. Hastings, FAIA, of Detroit, as First Vice President. A native of Kenosha, Wis., he graduated with high honors from the University of Illinois in 1937. He is a registered architect and engineer, and president of the Smith, Hinchman & Grylls firm in Detroit.

Three new AIA Vice Presidents were elected. They are: Francis D. Lethbridge, FAIA, Washington, D.C.; George T. Rockrise, FAIA, San Francisco, and George M. White, AIA, Cleveland.

The newly-elected Treasurer of the Institute is Rex L. Becker, FAIA, St. Louis.

Six new members were added to AIA's Board of Directors. They are: Floyd O. Wolfenbarger, FAIA, of the firm of Wolfenbarger and McCulley in Manhattan, Kan., representing the Central States Region; Hilliard T. Smith, Jr., AIA, of the firm of the same name in Lake Worth, Fla., representing the Florida Region, and Arthur Froehlich, FAIA, of the Arthur Froehlich, FAIA & Associates firm in Beverly Hills, Calif., representing the California Region.

Also, Daniel Boone, FAIA, of the firm of Boone and Pope Architects Engineers in Abilene, Texas, representing the Texas Region; Russell O. Deeter, AIA, of the Deeter Ritchey Sippel firm in Pittsburgh, representing the Pennsylvania Region, and Frederick W. Salogga, AIA, of the Spangler, Beall, Salogga, Bradley, Albers firm in Decatur, III., representing the Illinois Region.
