New Pension Fund Director Named
George L. Griesbauer, Jr., has been appointed administrator of the Bricklayers and Trowel Trades International Pension Fund with headquarters in Washington, D.C.

An accountant, Griesbauer comes to the Pension Fund from the International Association of Fire Fighters where he served for the past year and a half as comptroller. Prior to that he spent seven years in the accounting and administrative fields, most recently as senior accountant with a firm specializing in labor organization and welfare and pension funds, including several in the masonry industry.

Griesbauer attended Resurrection College in Kitchener, Ont., and Benjamin Franklin University in Washington, D.C., where he received his ABA and BCS degrees. Born in Bethesda, Md., he now resides in Wheaton, Md. with his wife and three children.

In announcing Griesbauer's appointment by the Pension Fund Trustees, BM&PIU and Fund Secretary John T. Joyce said: "The committee considered a large number of competent people for the position. In view of the Fund's extremely rapid initial growth, which exceeded our expectations for the first 12 months of operation, it was decided that the primary need of the Fund at this time was someone with a strong background in accounting and administration. We feel that Mr. Griesbauer will continue the fine job begun by George Ferguson."

Secretary Joyce noted that to date locals with more than 10,000 members have negotiated employer contributions to the Fund.

Detroit MCA Reelects

Costella President
Francis Costella, president of Monte Costella, Inc., Southfield, has been reelected president of the Detroit Mason Contractors Association for 1974.

All other officers also were reelected by the association's board of directors. They are:

Stanley Gierlaszynski, Chesterfield Mason Contractors, Center Line, vice president; James R. Snyder, J.R. Snyder Co., Inc., Novi, secretary, and Robert Nowak, R.C. Nowak & Co., Detroit, treasurer.


Kerr Elected President

of Cleveland MCA
The Mason Contractors' Association, headquartered in Cleveland, has elected Thomas Kerr, Industrial Construction Co., Inc., president for 1974. Elected to serve with him were:

Sam Immormino, A. Immormino & Son, vice president; Joseph Foti, J.L.. Foti Construction Co., Inc., secretary: Charles Schulz, Charles Schulz Building Co., Inc., treasurer, and Norman Prusa, Building Trades Employers' Association, executive secretary.

The association is one of nine organizations affiliated with the Building Trades Employers' Association. Member contracting firms specialize in brick masonry construction in commercial, industrial, residential and institutional buildings.


Medusa Earnings Rise
The Medusa Corp., Cleveland, Ohio, has announced that sales for the year ended December 31, 1973 increased 15% to $141.9 million and net earnings rose 22% to $8.4 million. Earnings per common share increased 20% to $3.31.

Sales and earnings reached all-time highs in 1973, with earnings per common share 10% above the previous high of $3.01 in 1966, Medusa said.

Harry C. Geserick, who for the past 32 years served in the federal government as a management consultant, has joined the Council of Construction Employers as assistant to the president in the Washington, D.C. headquarters.

Orlando S. Grande, president of Grande Bros. Corp., Sudbury, Mass. and a pioneer of industry promotion in Massachusetts, has been elected president of the Mason Contractors Association of Massachusetts. He is also secretary-treasurer of the Massachusetts Masonry Institute headquartered in Boston. John A. Mascari has been named chief civil engineer and planner for the architectural, engineering and consulting firm of Longardner & Associates, Inc., Indianapolis, Ind. Joseph L.
