Architectural Design Awards

The architectural firm of Fairfield & DuBois (now Du-Bois, Strong, Bindhardt) has been chosen as the recipient of the Award of Excellence for 1975 in the Ontario Masons' Relations Council Unit Masonry Design Awards competition, for their design of Otonabee College at Trent University, Peterborough, Ont.

The Award of Excellence, four Awards of Merit, and two Honorable Mentions, were chosen with respect to design and workmanship; these buildings have been erected in Ontario within the past four years.

The judging was conducted by three well known Toronto architects, Gene Kinoshita, John Hix and George Gibson; the latter having been Professional Advisor to the OMRC Awards Program since 1964. This year there were 54 buildings submitted by 42 architectural firms.

The sponsor of this competition, the Ontario Masons' Relations Council, is a unique example of labor management cooperation. It is an organization representing the Ontario Provincial Conference; the Ontario Region of the Clay Brick Association of Canada, the Ontario Concrete Block Association, and the Ontario Masonry Contractors Association.

Report of the Jury

The Jury established the following criteria to guide them in judging the entries:
