"Masonry Week" Declared in Michigan
Michigan Governor William G. Milliken recently honored the masonry industry in his state by declaring "Masonry Week in Michigan." "Masonry Week" was climaxed by the third annual Masonry Awards Banquet at the Detroit Plaza Hotel. Honored at the banquet were professional architects and architectural students for excellence in masonry design.

Essick Opens New Plant In West Virginia
Essick Manufacturing Co., Los Angeles-based manufacturer of plaster and mortar mixers, announced it has closed its Charleston, S.C. plant and will supply East Coast customers from a new and larger factory in Ranson, W.Va. The new facility is located on Rt. 9 North, P.O. Box 250 in Ranson.
E.A. Ausili, Essick president, said that the Los Angeles plant is being modernized to increase its production capacity with new welding equipment and new numerically controlled machine shop equipment.

Paxton Opens 2 Branches
William Paxton & Associates, Inc., a consulting structural engineering firm established less than a year ago in Southfield, Mich., has opened two new offices, in Miami and Detroit.
The Miami office will be known as Paxton-Khan & Associates, Inc., at 8400 N.W. 52nd St. The office in Detroit is located in the Beaubien House, one of the oldest remaining houses in Detroit and the headquarters for the Michigan Society of Architects. It is located at 553 E. Jefferson Ave., across from Renaissance Center.
