William S. Jones, president of Boren Clay Products Co., Pleasant Garden, N.C., has received the Silver Beaver Award from the General Greene Council, Greensboro, for his work in Boy Scout activities. The Clay Brick Association of Canada Bricklaying Apprentice Award was recently presented to Peter Tjepkema by Gabe Coco of Clayburn Industries. Tjepkema received top marks in British Columbia with 96 percent in the 1979 Interprovincial Examinations.
James Tilford has been elevated to executive director of the Indiana Concrete Masonry Association. He succeeds Robert W. Walton, who remains on the ICMA board of directors as consulting director.

Ronald K. Gorman, formerly sales representative for Bay State Abrasives, division of Dresser Industries, has been elevated to sales manager of Felker Operations, Torrance, Calif. Felker is a subsidiary of Bay State.

"Bud" Hermann, executive vice president of Associated Equipment Distributors, Oak Brook, Ill., has been elected to a two-year term on the board of directors of the United States Chamber of Commerce. Ronald A. Hummer has been promoted to vice president and Jerry G. Meyers has been elevated to executive secretary of the mason contracting firm of Robert Schilling Jr., Inc., Allentown, Pa. Signode Corp., Glenview, Ill., has named John D. Siebler market development manager.

CMCA Holds '80 Spring Conference in Denver
The Colorado Mason Contractors Association held its 12th Spring Conference in Denver at the Marriott Hotel, April 12. The Conference enjoyed outstanding attendance and was termed "one of the most successful ever."
The meeting featured exhibits of masonry construction equipment by 42 manufacturers and included live equipment demonstrations of forklifts and scaffolding in an outside area adjacent to the hotel. The keynote address entitled, "Science and Survival," was given by Dr. Albert Burke, who appeared on the former TV commentary series "Probe."
