John Burke has been elevated to sales manager/masonry products for Huntington/Pacific Ceramics, Inc., Corona, Calif. John J. Peter B. McCuen has been appointed senior vice president of planning and development, McGraw-Hill Information Systems Co., New York City. G. Robert Johnson, FARA, Glenview, Ill., was recently installed as 1981 president of the Society of American Registered Architects (SARA). William H. Gatenby, vice president, Harvey Hubbell, Inc., was unanimously reelected to a second term as president of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Homebuyers Prefer Brick, Survey Says
A recently released national survey of homebuyers shows that an overwhelming majority-76.2%-prefer masonry front exteriors, while only 16.5% prefer wood and 3.9% stucco.
According to the survey released by the National Association of Home Builders on December 4, 1980, three out of five consumers, 60.7%, indicated that they prefer brick front exteriors and 15.5% preferred stone.
The survey further indicated 85% of homebuyers desired a fireplace and 89.2% felt it should be in the base price of the home.
MCA of Utah Elects Ercanbrack President
Paul Ercanbrack of Ercanbrack Construction Co. was recently installed as president of the Mason Contractors Association of Utah for 1981. He succeeds Larry W. Pulsipher who served the past two years. Other members of the board include: Jerry Hofheins, Western States Masonry, Doyle Hatfield, Hatfield Masonry, Inc., Lynn Christman, Christman Construction, and Gerald Travis, Travis Masonry, vice presidents; Steve Crook, CS&G Masonry, secretary, and Meiling Hales, Meiling Hales Masonry, treasurer.
Flintkote Expands Plant
Flintkote Co., Stamford, Conn., announced it intends to expand and modernize its cement plant in San Andreas, Calif., and thereby increase production capacity from 600,000 to more than 1,000,000 tons per year.
The company's cement plant in Redding, Calif., is in the final stages of an expansion which will more than double its present production capacity.
