Silver Medal Award-Kenwood-54th Townhouses
Designed by Optima, Inc., with masonry by Garth Construction Co. This project was recognized for its geometric simplicity, the use of soft textured brick, and the privacy achieved by the use of a courtyard.
Chicago Design Awards Program Honors Area Architects and Mason Contractors
The Dearborn Park Mid-Rise Apartments, designed by Booth/Hansen Associates Ltd., captured the Gold Medal Award for Excellence In Masonry Design in the seventh annual architectural awards program sponsored by the Metropolitan Chicago Masonry Council to honor local building projects.
Winners of the Silver Medal Award for masonry design were: Optima, Inc., for the Kenwood-54th Townhouses; Consoer/Morgan, for the O'Hare Water Reclamation Plant; Woertendyke-Higgins, Inc., for the 505 N. LaSalle Building, and O'Donnell, Wicklund, Pigozzi, for the Von Humboldt Child/Parent Center in Chicago.

Designed by Booth Hansen Associates Ltd., with masonry by Frank Miller's Sons Fireproofing Co. Jury's comment: "An excellently planned project with the perimeter of protection from the street side, the orientation to the courtyard side, and the step-down variety which softens the institutional look."
Silver Medal Award-505 N. LaSalle Building restoration
Designed by Woertendyke Higgins, Inc. Southfield Builders was responsible for the brick work.
