'84 MCAA Masonry Conference Highlights
January 26-31 Hyatt Regency Hotel New Orleans, Louisiana
Pre-Conference Program, January 26-27, 1984
The MCAA Management Institute will conduct three highly informative educational seminars over a two-day period. Members are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to secure the latest information on subjects of concern to them in their business.
Starting at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, two seminars will be presented on "Masonry Estimating For a Profit" and "Masonry Panel Anchoring Systems." The estimating course will be a two-day affair, running Thursday afternoon and all day Friday. It will be presented by Jerry Pope, well known construction management consultant who has been responsible for the estimating and bidding of more than $2 billion worth of construction work over the past 20 years.
The second seminar on Masonry Panel Anchoring Systems will be a highly technical, four-hour session designed solely for those experienced in the field; it is not recommended for the novice or newcomer, and attendance will be limited. The seminar will be conducted by two professional engineers-J. Gregg Borchelt, executive director of the Masonry Institute of Houston/Galveston, and Buck Richardson of Dee Brown Masonry, Inc., Houston, Texas-both of whom have had considerable experience with masonry panels.
On Friday, January 26, beginning at 9:00 a.m., the MCAA Masonry Systems Marketing Committee-under the direction of Richard Felice, MCAA regional vice president, and Jim Cope, president of Morgen Manufacturing Co., Yankton, S.D.-will present a seminar (as yet untitled) exploring areas such as energy, economics, engineering and aesthetics.
This special study session has been in the developmental stage for more than a year and a half. Other scheduled speakers include such well-known masonry industry personalities as Bill Pautler, Norb Hynek, Howard Noziska, Gregg Borchelt and John Heslip.
