A Marvelous Return

In 2019, MASONRY Magazine is back and stronger than ever. We have shuffled the deck a little bit in terms of content in order to bring you more of the topics you love. I thought this note would be a good time to share some of the pieces you’ll see. One of the highlights of taking over the magazine a few years ago was the introduction of David Biggs’ Marvelous Masonry series. That’s why I am so thrilled to welcome back the series for 2019, and on our cover no less. We kick things off with Peru, and I’m sure you’re going to love reading about all the historical masonry in South America. We look forward to having a whole new batch of these articles, and I’m sure you will too.   In this issue, we are also reintroducing our Shop Talk series with Joel Guth. With a refreshed new perspective for the new year, Joel is going to share his experiences as a contractor and delve into some of the topics touched upon during the MCAA’s Contractor Round Tables. As a contractor for much of his life, Joel is bringing things full circle to pay it forward and inform the community.    Our GEN NXT series is back for 2019, and we’re talking with Liz Graves of Spec Rents. We are thrilled to continue to deliver you the stories of and insight from the next generation of leaders within the masonry and construction industry.   Brick staining is an area of masonry you may not be entirely familiar with, that’s why we are particularly excited to feature the topic. Matt Plechan, who is an expert in the field, walks us through the ins and outs of this technology, which frankly looks so much better than painted brick.   Just as we close this issue, we are beginning work on our March 2019 World of Concrete recap issue, which is going to be filled with coverage on the events and developments from Las Vegas. Congratulations to all the winners of the masonry competitions and MCAA Hall of Fame inductees.  dsig

Building More: Accuracy or Efficiency

I am sure by now you have heard the saying that you can have it good, cheap, and fast. The problem is you can only choose two of the three. Good and cheap won’t be fast, cheap and fast won’t be good, and good and fast won’t be cheap. It is a phenomenal an
