PRE-CONFERENCE SEMINARS

is becoming more prevalent in the world of construction each year. The MCAA Management Institute, with the assistance of Jerry Pope and Mark Soderberg, has developed this first in a new series of Computer Assisted Estimating courses. It will be introduced in Las Vegas and be based on Jerry Pope's new Computer Assisted Estimating Manual.
The Manual is designed for use with a micro desktop computer system and covers areas such as: basic use of computer systems; basic masonry estimating concepts; use of computer program spreadsheets in masonry estimating: large and small project estimate examples, and typical formats and printouts. Well-known construction consultant Jerry Pope will be the lecturer for this program.
The seminar will run one and one-half days and includes a luncheon for participants on Thursday. If you're planning to install a computer system in your operations or already have one, this seminar can serve both as an orientation or a refresher course for yourself and your personnel.
• Rehabilitation/Restoration Markets for Mason Contractors-Thursday, March 7. This seminar is both unique and timely as the rehab/restoration fields keep expanding and interest continues to swell in recycling older structures and preserving historic buildings with landmark status. It's a field that's wide open for mason contractors seeking additional sources of income.
Industry experts with considerable experience in the restoration field will outline some their successful strategies and acquaint mason contractors with the approaches to take in entering this growing and lucrative market.
• Masonry Systems Marketing-Friday, March 8. This course, based on the widely acclaimed Masonry Marketing Manual, was presented for the first time at MCAA's Pre-Conference Seminar in New Orleans. The highly favorable response, regarding both the subject area and the Manual, prompted MCAA's Masonry Systems Marketing Committee to repeat the seminar on an expanded basis.
The Masonry Marketing Manual, in less than a year's time, has proved to be one of the most effective promotion tools at a mason contractor's disposal. The featured session speakers will be recognized leaders from the fields of masonry marketing and communications who will provide information on developing marketing strategies and plans for your company. All the elements of creating a marketing plan will be covered thoroughly in this day-long program so that those attending will have the know-how they will need to return home and start putting together a marketing concept tailored to their own needs.
So here is an ideal opportunity to expand your knowledge in any of three important areas interfaced with the masonry contracting industry. Look over the information on pages 10 and 11 of this issue, and make your plans now to attend both a Pre-Conference Seminar and the Conference itself in March of '85. It will benefit you in many ways.
