General contractor and construction manager, has named Lee T. Burford as project manager. The National Limestone Institute has moved to 1415 Elliot Place, N.W., Washington, D.C.

Claudia Cackler has been selected as the new executive director of the Masonry Institute of Iowa. She attended the University of Iowa and has been working in association management. R. E. "Dick" Whitaker has been named assistant corporate secretary & administrative manager of Access Engineering USA, Inc., Charlotte, N.C. Access manufactures and markets the "Satellite" elevating work platform for the construction industry. On a sad note: William T. Cavanaugh, 63, president of ASTM, died on April 18, 1985. He had been active in ASTM's management since 1967.

Richard B. Solomon, v.p. of APEC Consultants, Inc., Miami, Fla.-based architectural/engineering firm, and Charles "Chief" Boyd, partner in BSW Architects, Tulsa, Okla., have been elected president and vice president, respectively, of the Construction Specifications Institute. Fireman's Fund, Inc. has recognized the manufacturing personnel of ProSoCo., Inc., Kansas City, Kan., for one year of accident-free operation.

Bill Padavona, formerly with Interlocking Roof Tile Co., has been named president and chief operating officer of Davidson Brick Co., Perris, Cal. The Burns & Russell Co., Baltimore, Md., 195-year-old brick and tile manufacturer, has announced the retirement of its fifth-generation president and chairman, Alexander H. Russell V. The Cement Division of National Gypsum Co. has appointed Leonard E. Bertrand as a sales rep for the Milwaukee district.

Maurice 0. Boekello has been elevated to sales manager of Robert H. Peterson Co., City of Industry, Calif., manufacturer of built-in and outdoor barbecues and accessories. Lull Engineering Co., St. Paul, Minn., has named John Legler western territory regional manager for Lull's line of all-terrain forklifts. Carolyn Deeds Partin, executive director of Kentuckiana Masonry Institute, Louisville, has received the 1985 Service Award from the University of Kentucky College of Architecture.

A majority of firms surveyed favor keeping older workers on the job. In a recent study by CIGNA Corporation, 72% of 107 firms surveyed favored encouraging older workers to keep working, and 69% already provide incentives to senior employees.
