CMCA Members to Visit Italy on Industry Tour
Canadian Masonry Contractors Association members will have a chance to visit southern Italy as part of the 1985 CMCA Industry Tour. Departure will be the evening of September 20, 1985, for 13 days, with an optional one week extension for touring northern Italy.

The tour will include airfare from specified locations in eastern and western Canada, first class hotel accommodations, air conditioned motor coach, continental breakfast and specified dinners as well as the services of a tour guide who has specialized knowledge in construction and restoration techniques, ancient and modern, and a multi-lingual tour director.

Fourth Canadian Masonry Symposium Scheduled
The Department of Civil Engineering of the University of New Brunswick and the Masonry Industry of the Atlantic Provinces will sponsor the 4th Canadian Masonry Symposium to be held June 2-4, 1986, in Fredericton, Ν.Β.

The symposium seeks to encourage and promote the exchange of knowledge, understanding and technological information among researchers, educators, practitioners and others interested in all aspects of masonry.

The organizing committee is inviting technical papers on masonry construction. Abstracts must be submitted by August 30, 1985. All accepted papers will be published at the symposium.

B.C. & Yukon Chapter of CMCA Elects Board
The B.C. & Yukon Chapter of the Candian Masonry Contractors Association elected the following Board of Directors at its annual general meeting:

Richard Hancock, president: Gabe Cocco, vice president: Peter Zirpke, treasurer, and Steve Hutchinson, secretary. Elected directors were Kurt Bakgaard, Paul Geotze, Dino Maniago, Bill McEwen, Sev Samulski and Joe Zettl.

Plasticrete Block and Brick Firm Merge
Plasticrete Block & Supply Corp. and Architectural Brick Co., both of North Haven, Conn., have announced their merger.

Plasticrete is a 62-year-old manufacturer of concrete products including block and precast items. Architectural Brick represents more than a score of brick manufacturers in North America and imports architectural stone from Canada and specialty tiles from France, Germany and Italy.

George N. Tolman and Stephen P. Donnelly, principals in Architectural Brick, will serve in management capacities.
