BAC Secretary-Treasurer Ed Bellucci to Retire
Edward M. Bellucci, secretary treasurer and Executive Board member of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftsmen (BAC), Washington, D.C., announced he will not seek reelection this fall and will retire when his present term in office ends December 31 of this year.
A "major factor" in his decision to retire, Bellucci said, is "I'm simply content to move over to the side and let the traffic pass by. I look forward to a healthy and happy retirement that will allow me to spend more time with my wife Bernie, our children and grandchildren."
A native of New Haven, Conn., Bellucci has served on the international union's Executive Board for the past 15 years and has had a 40-year career as an apprentice and journeyman bricklayer, as foreman and superintendent, and as a union officer.
Bill Fagan, Dur-O-Wal Vice President, Dies
Bill Fagan of Hunt Valley, Md., senior vice president of Dur-O-Wal, Inc., Northbrook, III., died May 20, 1985. He was 64.
Mr. Fagan had been with Dur-O-Wal for the past 23 years and was the firm's main representative to architects, engineers and the National Concrete Masonry Association.
He previously was associated with Sal Picone & Sons, Inc., Brooklyn, N.Y., a block producer. He also was a past president of the New York State Concrete Masonry Association and served on the Associates Division Board of Directors of NCMA.
Mr. Fagan is survived by his wife Barbara, two daughters and two grandchildren.
MCAA Seminar on Computer Assisted Masonry Scheduled for New York
The MCAA Management Institute will present the third in its current series on Computer Assisted Masonry Estimating Seminars at the Sheraton LaGuardia in New York City, September 18-19, 1985.
The course instructors will be Jerry G. Pope, well-known construction consultant based in Greeley, Colo, and William C. Veneris, president of Interactive Management Systems Corp.. Colorado Springs, Colo., specialist in computer software programs for the masonry industry.
The seminar will be based on the recently published Computer Assisted Masonry Estimating Manual co-authored by Pope and Mark Soderberg of Soderberg Masonry, Fort Collins, Colo., in cooperation with MCAA. The Manual is intended for use with micro desktop computer systems and covers areas such as the basic use of computers, basic masonry estimating concepts, the use of computer program spreadsheets in masonry estimating, large and small project estimate examples, and typical formats and printouts.
If you're planning to install a computer in your business or already have one, this seminar can serve both as an effective orientation or refresher course for yourself and/or your key personnel.
