MCAA Conference
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ABOUT THE '86 EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE IN ST. PETE
When and where is the '86 MCAA Educational Conference being held?
MCAA's 36th Annual International Educational Conference is being held February 27th through March 5th in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, one of the most relaxed cities in the world. This fascinating location provides an excellent backdrop for the three Seminars and eight Workshops to be presented in conjunction with the Conference business sessions.
What are the Conference hotels?
MCAA members will be using the t Fortune Hotels in St. Pete. These are the new TradeWinds, which will serve as the headquarters hotel and, for overflow, the Sandpiper, which is situated less than a block away. During peak Conference periods, shuttle buses will be available between the two hotels.
How do I register for the Conference?
You should already have received full Conference registration materials including a Conference Registration Form, Seminar Registration Form and TradeWinds Reservation Card. Fees for the various functions are fully explained, but should you have specific questions call the MCAA Executive Office, (312) 620-6767, and we will be happy to assist you. If you've misplaced the Registration Forms, see pages 10 and 11 in the November/December, 1985 issue of Masonry.
What about air transportation to St. Pete Beach?
The St. Petersburg Beach area is served by Tampa International Airport, one of the most modern air terminals in the world. United and Eastern are the official airlines for the Conference. These two carriers provide coverage for most of the United States and Canada. Remember... you or your travel agent can call United at 800-521-4041 and give the MCAA Account Number 628-K. Or call Eastern at 800-468-7022 and give the Access Number EZ2P71. You'll be able to take advantage of the special low fares with either airline. Keep in mind that we will be in a peak vacation period, so reserve your space today!
What subjects will the Saturday Workshops cover?
This year we have a wide range of subject matter that should whet everyone's appetite. "Cash Flow Management-Your Computer Can Do It" will be handled by Bill Veneris of Interactive Management Systems Corp. Bill has a unique program that should be of immense interest to mason contractors.
Following that will be "Ready-Mix Mortars-Are They for Real?" We've had a broad cross-section of questions relative to this subject and thought the best thing was to turn to the experts. Discussing the subject with you will be: Michael Pistilli, chairman, ASTM Task Group C12.03.07 and vice president, research & development. American Mortar & Concrete Service; Sylvester Schmidt, member of the ASTM Task Group and president of Addiment, Inc., and Robert Nelson, Nelson & Associates, construction materials consultants.
The third Workshop on Saturday has been changed to "Corrosion-That Deadly Enemy" and will be presented to Mario Catani, president of Dur-O-Wal, Inc. Rounding out the day will be Workshop No. 4, "Maintenance The Basic Ingredient of Efficient Material Handling." The MCAA Material Handling Committee, under the direction of Tony Luczynski, will conduct this 90-minute session.
