warehouses which will be offering residential contractors "one stop shopping" for needs ranging from lumber and windows through to furnaces and faucets.

Many Underestimate Tax Reform Impact
Many taxpayers are assuming they will be better off under tax reform than they actually will be, according to E. F. Hutton's Mary Tomanek.
Tomanek, an account executive and assistant vice president at Hutton's Riverside Plaza Office in Chicago, said many people particularly seem to be confused by the blended rates of the transitional 1987 year.
"A lot of people are just assuming their brackets will be lower, and they will to some extent, but often not to the extent that they believe," the broker said. As a financial planning specialist, she has been advising clients on how to adjust investment strategies for tax reform.
"When we sit down and work out the figures, many times it's not as good as they thought it would be," she said.
She said that some investors have been assuming they would no longer need tax-exempt income from municipal bonds. Yet, some of those people will be in the 38.5 percent bracket in 1987, and tax-exempt income will continue to be attractive for them.
Other clients had not made plans to change their contribution patterns in their Uniform Gifts to Minors Act accounts even though the tax benefits of such accounts have been substantially reduced.
Tomanek said that confusion has been created because of the complexity of the new law and because many generalities have been printed.
"Should you sell securities this year (1986) to take advantage of the lower capital gains tax rate before it expires? There's no general answer to that. It depends on your individual situation," Tomanek said. She urges investors to consult with a financial advisor.
