The Gypsum Association has announced that, effective immediately, Thomas C. Moss will represent the Association in building code and other key areas. Moss formerly handled architectural and building code services for Norwest Gypsum Co. in Bellevue, Wash. Robert J. Entenman has been named territory manager for the Construction Products Operation of Rexnord Chemical Products, Milwaukee, Wis.
David P. Gayeski has been named public relations manager for Thoro System Products, Inc., Miami, Fla., producer of products for waterproofing, maintaining and decorating masonry and concrete. Danny M. Matsumoto has been named a principal of Environmental Structures, Inc., Santa Ana, Calif.-based structural engineering firm. The Building Products Division of W. R. Bonsal Co., Charlotte, N.C., has appointed John L. Cover as technical sales specialist for architectural products.
Walter M. Kardy, former chief executive of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America, has announced the establishment of Specialty Contractors, Inc. The firm, located at PO Box 42558, Northwest Station, Washington, D.C. 20015, (301) 933-7430, will provide management services for construction trade associations as well as consulting for individual contractors. The Building Products Division of W. R. Bonsal Co., Charlotte, N.C., has named John B. Lamb as sales & marketing manager for architectural products.
The Construction Employers Association has relocated its headquarters to: 981 Keynote Circle, Suite 31, Brooklyn Heights, OH 44131. James M. "Mitch" Warren has been named as the replacement for the retired Warren Anderson as director of the Laborers-AGC Education & Training Fund. Warren moves up from assistant director. Giar & Sons has been appointed as a distributor for the Pettibone Extendo and Cary-Lift lines of rough terrain forklifts in Caledonia, Mich. Barbara Miloro has been promoted to the new post of sales service supervisor of United Glazed Products, Baltimore, Md., manufacturer of Spectra-Glaze masonry units in the eastern U.S.
The National Safety Council has appointed Matthew J. Burkart chairman of its A10 Accredited Standards Committee on Safety Requirements for Construction and Demolition Operators. Burkart is president of Aegis Corp., Southampton, Pa. The structural engineering firm of Bianco Weiler Consultants has moved to new offices at 225 W. 8th Ave., Vancouver, B.C. V5Y 1N3. The National Concrete Masonry Association has named Stephen S. Szoke as manager of technical services/national accounts. James P. Cramer, senior v.p. of the American Institute of Architechts, has been appointed president of the AIA Foundation. The Foundation's primary mission is to increase public awareness of architecture and the role played by architects in shaping environment. Sandra Y. Williams is the replacement for A. Harry Wagner as executive secretary of the Virginia Concrete Masonry Association.
Union Official James P. Scales Dies
James P. Scales, 82, a longtime Bricklayers Union official and member, died December 27, 1986, at his home in Oak Lawn, Ill.
Mr. Scales was a 65-year member of Local 21 of the Bricklayers & Stone Masons Union. For 25 years, he served the union as a special international deputy. He also was secretary-treasurer of the Illinois State Conference for the union and delegate to the Building Trades International Convention for more than 35 years.
Survivors include a sister, Mary.
