Brick Collecting
Grows in Popularity

Brick collecting may not be as popular as stamp collecting, but it's getting there. There are now more than 300 collectors from many parts of the world enrolled in the International Brick Collectors Association (IBCA). The IBCA, founded in 1983, holds several get togethers each year to permit members to swap bricks, and uncover new finds. Although some collections contain as many as 5,000 specimens, the objective is not quantity, but quality and diversity, especially bricks imprinted with designs, dates, brand names, slogans or geographic locations. If you are interested in IBCA and its activities, contact IBCA president Jim Graves at 1468 Collidge. Wichita, KS 67203.

Brick Inspection Video

The Brick Institute of America has produced a new videotape entitled "Brick Masonry-Construction Inspection Procedures." The video is intended to familiarize young design professionals and reacquaint veteran architects with the proper practices of overseeing brick masonry construction. The video is in VHS format and runs twenty-four minutes. It may be obtained from BIA, 11490 Commerce Park Drive, Reston, VA 22091. Each videotape is $35 plus shipping.

There is no limit to the good man can do, if he doesn't care who gets the credit.

Most people spend more time and energy going around problems than trying to solve them.
