Tamms Acquires Dural
Tamms Industries Co., Itasca, IL, has announced its acquisition of Dural International, Inc., Deer Park, NY. Tamms produces a wide line of specialty chemicals for the repair, waterproofing and decorating of masonry and concrete structures. Dural is a leading producer of polymer based compounds, principally expoxies, for use in repair and protection of concrete construction.
Repair Seminars Scheduled
A two-day seminar on "Structural Repair of Concrete and Masonry" sponsored by ASCE has been announced for five cities. James Warner, P.E., F. ASCE, will be the seminar leader. Cities and dates are: Minneapolis, March 9-10; Cincinnati, March 13-14; Boston, April 10-11; St. Louis, April 13-14 and San Diego, April 17-18. For more information call 1-800-548-2723.
Offer Masonry Course
The University of Toledo, starting Jan. 1, 1989, will offer a course in masonry engineering in the Civil Engineering curriculum. The course is being offered as a 3 credit-hour, senior level elective for engineering students and will also be available on a non-credit basis through the Continuing Education Division. Dr. Colby Ardis, Jr., chairman of the Civil Engineering Department has been instrumental in instituting the course. For more information, contact the Masonry Institute (MINO) at 419/241-1912.
W. P. HOWLE
W. P. Howle, 78, president of W. P. Howle Brick Contractor, Inc., Wichita Falls, Texas, died on December 18, 1988. Mr. Howle was born in Abilene, Texas on August 19, 1910. Following in his father's footsteps, W. P. became a brick contractor in Wichita Falls where he built some of the finest structures in the city. He was recently honored as a fifty year member of the BAC. Mr. Howle and his wife started the W. P. and Ann Howle Scholarship Trust at Midwestern State University which has benefited more than 400 students. He was a World War II veteran serving with the Army engineers.
Mr. Howle was a member of MCAA for 25 years and was a strong supporter of its program.
Kraft Tool Co. Expands
The Kraft Tool Company of Kansas City has just moved into their New headquarters at 619 E. 19th Street in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mr. Ron Meyer and Mr. Si Kraft, the principle owners, began the business in 1982 with the small offices and factory at 1901 Wyandotte. Since that time, the Kraft Tool Company has expanded the business to the degree that the entire original building plus additional adjoining space was required to take care of their increased business.
