NEW VIDEOS
The popular Brick Sculpture II slide program is now available as a VHS video. Like the slide presentation, the video traces the rebirth of brick bas relief sculpture in the United States, showing dozens of examples from several sculptors.
Also included is a brief description of the process of creating a brick sculpture. The sculpture video is just the tool you need for one-on-one architectural sales calls. BIA also has available, at no charge, a current list of brick sculptors and a "one pager" on the sculpture process. Brick Sculpture video is $35.00 from BIA.
Through a special arrangement with Dick Whitney of Standard Builders Supply Company, BIA has obtained copies of "Streetscape" for industry distribution. "Streetscape" is a 20-minute VHS videotape documenting how downtown Duluth, Minnesota was revitalized through the repaving of sidewalks and streets with brick.
Included are the comments of local civic leaders and a detailed description of how the project was developed and installed. The Duluth project utilized more than three-and-one-half million paving brick supplied by two different brick manufacturers. Available from BIA for $35.00.
The Brick Institute of America (BIA) is located at 11490 Commerce Park Drive, Reston, VA 22091. Phone 703/620-0010.

Form New Superlite Firm
One of the West's largest block producers has been formed with investors led by Arizona Block Manufacturing acquiring the statewide block operations of Superlite Builders Supply, Inc.
The $40 million transaction-involving approximately 200 employees and manufacturing facilities in Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff-promises better, more readily available building materials for contractors throughout the state, officers added. No other financial details were disclosed.
According to Max Graves, president of the new firm-which will be named Superlite Block-the expanded company will have the capacity to produce more than 70 million blocks per year.
Existing Superlite facilities will retain their names while Arizona Block and Deer Valley Block will change theirs, Graves continued.
Superlite's new owner is a joint venture of Arizona Block, in Mesa, and Arizona Concrete Holdings Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of CRH plc. Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, CRH is a manufacturer and supplier of construction materials worldwide.
Superlite was sold by Hanson Industries, a London-based construction and consumer products company.
