Harry A. Fine Dies
HARRY A. FINE, Executive Director of the Masonry Institute of St. Louis, died September 3 after suffering a heart attack. He was 63.
A graduate of the School of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis, he was principal of his own architectural firm for 23 years.
Fine was a corporate member of the American Institute of Architects, an associate member of the Construction Specifications Institute, and a professional member of the Masonry Society. He was active on BOCA National Building Code and ASTM Committees, and just recently had accepted an appointment to "Masonry" Magazine's Advisory Board.
Fine is survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Leslie Satchell; a son, Jay D. Fine; a stepdaughter, Jennifer O'Laughlin; a brother, Louis L. Fine; and four grandchildren.
George L. Plumb Dies
GEORGE L. PLUMB, who served as MCAA's Legal Counsel for more than twenty-five years, died September 22nd. Plumb, 56, was a partner in the firm of Pedersen and Houpt, Chicago, and recently formed his own firm in Winnetka, Illinois.
He was co-counsel for the Bricklayers and Trowel Trades International Pension Fund, Washington, D.C.
Plumb was highly respected for his broad knowledge of the various labor laws. He had a deep and astute perception of jurisdictional matters and a keen sense of the issues which made him a most effective advisor to MCAA members.
His genial personality and wit, which made him hosts of friends throughout the industry, was matched by his willingness to help others on such issues as housing for the elderly.
Plumb is survived by his wife, Debra; four daughters, Laura Maxwell, Julia, Jennifer and Sarah; a son, Michael; and a sister.
