MCAA Registration Desk Opens. Marina Foyer North, Level 3, (South Tower) Marriott Hotel & Marina 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
MCAA Workshops 8:00 am - 10:00 am. Three MCAA Workshops will run concurrently at the Marriott Hotel & Marina. "OSHA: Citations, Fines and Your Rights" Topics will cover the rights and responsibilities of contractors, types of violations, inspection procedures, employer rights, contesting citations, appeals and how fines are assessed. "Why Quality: A Matter of Survival" Thousands of dollars can be saved by implementing a quality process...customers can be saved by meeting their expectation the first time. "Transferring The Family Business The premature demise of the family business is usually the result of a failure to adequately plan for the eventual transfer of ownership. Learn how to protect your family business and successfully transfer the reins to the next generation.
MCAA Opening Session, Marriott Hotel & Marina 10:00 am-12:00 noon
MCAA President Richard Matthews will give his "State of the Association Address" and outline his vision for the upcoming year to conference attendees. This years OPENING SESSION will also feature Keynote Speaker Tandy Rice. Mr. Rice is making an encore performance with his wit and motivational remarks. MCAA members are requested to attend the Opening Session.
MCAA Workshops 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. The following two MCAA Workshops will be held concurrently at the Marriott Hotel & Marina. "Proper Procedures For Staining Masonry". Learn how this unique masonry treatment can impact masonry and effectively address problem areas which have plagued the masonry industry. "Proven Practices For Masonry Cleaning". This presentation will cover cleaning of new masonry using both the "Bucket & Brush" and the "Pressure Cleaning" methods. It will address the chemicals normally used in these methods and their advantages and disadvantages. The following MCAA Workshop will run concurrently with the previous two workshops but will be conducted at the San Diego Convention Center. "Grouting Reinforced Masonry: High Lift/Low Lift". This demonstration will present methods of grouting reinforced masonry walls and is applicable to all codes. It will show placement of reinforcing steel, tolerances and discussion on the use of positioners.
Whale Watching Cruise 2:30 pm- 5:30 pm. This tour takes you up close to where you can almost touch a whale. This tour departs from the Marriott Marina right outside your hotel room.
MCAA Workshop 3:00pm-5:00pm. "How to Earn More Money While Building Better and Safer Fireplaces" Jim Buckley, who is a member of the Masonry Fireplace and Chimney Association, will demonstrate ways the industry is building better and less expensive masonry fireplaces-systematically.
MASONRY EXPO Welcoming Reception, Marriott Hotel & Marina 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Meet old friends and great new ones at the first official event of MASONRY EXPO '93. Participants from all MASONRY EXPO sponsoring groups will be in attendance, so this is one event that you do not want to miss. The reception will take place in the Marriott Hotel and Marina.
Block & Brick Plant Tour 7:30 am-11:15 am. Attend this unique opportunity to visit a block plant while it is in full operation. Included in this tour is a chance to see a sand mining operation and concrete crushing & recycling system. Visitors will be able to view the production of slump block, interlocking pavers and 8x8x16 double open end bond beams. Buses will be leaving the convention center around 7:30 am. Cost per attendee is $30.00.

"Bridging The Gender Gap". Marriott Hotel & Marina 9:00 am-11:00 am
This two hour seminar will discuss the source of gender based problems and presents bridge building tools that lead to greater understanding of the opposite sex...and ourselves.
MASONRY EXPO Keynote Speaker Luncheon San Diego Convention Center 11:30 am 1:30 pm
Former NFL Star Quarterback and current co-host of the NFL Today program, Terry Bradshaw, will be the keynote speaker for the MASONRY EXPO '93 luncheon.
