NCMA Selects New Officers and Directors
Members vote in new slate during Masonry Expo in San Diego.
RON OHMES, president of F.F. Kirchner, Bridgeton, Missouri, has been elected chairman of the National Concrete Masonry Association, the national trade association representing manufacturers of concrete block products throughout the United States.
Ohmes, who has served both on the NCMA Board of Directors and Executive Committee, has also held the position of chairman of NCMA's Concrete Masonry Political Action Committee and the Segmental Retaining Wall Committee. He is also a past chairman of the board of the Missouri Concrete Association.
William R. Oberfield, president of Oberfield's Concrete Products of Columbus, Ohio, has been elected the 1993 chairman-elect of the board of the National Concrete Masonry Association, Herndon, Virginia.
A twenty year veteran of the concrete masonry industry, Oberfield is a past-president of the Ohio Concrete Block Association and past-NCMA Membership Committee chairman. He is an active member of a number of industry and professional organizations.
NCMA Regional Directors and Executive Committee Members were elected by the membership-at-large as follows:
Region I-Richard L. Roach, president of Barnes & Cone, Syracuse, New York, was elected to a five year term as a director. Kenneth G. Dagostino, Jr., Dagostino Building Block, Schenectady, New York, was elected to a two year term as an executive committee member.
Region II-Charles A. Carson, Jr., president of Southeastern Concrete Products, Cayce, West Columbia, South Carolina, was elected to a five year term as a director. John Sisson, Jr., president of Superock Block Company, Birmingham Alabama, was elected to a one year term as a director.
Region III-Larry Wilson, president of Wilson Concrete Products, Centerville, Ohio, was elected to a five year term as a director. Dean Apple of Schuster's Block, Indianapolis, Indiana, was elected to a two year term as an executive committee member.
Region IV-Glenn Bolles, president of Anchor Block and Concrete of North St. Paul, Minnesota, was elected to a five year term as a director. H.V. "Corky" Moss, president of Featherlite Building Products, Austin, Texas, was elected to a two year term as a director.
Region V-Cloyce Harrison, executive vice president of Crego Block Co., of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was elected to a five year term as a director. Donald Jones, Jr. of Willamette-Graystone, Eugene, Oregon, was elected to a two year term as an executive committee member.
Elected to three-year terms as Associates Division directors on NCMA's Associates Division Board were Bernd A. Andreas, Rampf Molds Industries, Inc., of Hagerstown, Maryland; Stephen Jones of Pave Tech, Inc., Bloomington, Minnesota; Robin Popple of Columbia Machine Inc. of Vancouver, Washington; and Jeff Speck of Big River Industries Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia.
NCMA Chairman Ron Ohmes, Kirchner Industries Inc., St. Louis, Missouri, has announced several additional appointments to the board of directors and executive committee for 1993.
Ben Fry of Blocklite, Selma, California, has been appointed to fill a one-year term on the association's executive committee.
Bill Martin of Borin/Boice Inc., Warren, Michigan, has been appointed to fill the vacancy on the board of directors created when Bill Oberfield, Oberfield's Concrete Products becomes the association's 1993 chairman-elect.
Tom Hammer of Westblock, Portland, Oregon, has been appointed to a one-year term as an at-large member of the board of directors.
Bill Wagner, of Williams Brothers, Atlanta, Georgia, has also been appointed to a one year term on the association's board of directors.
Building Costs Rise
THE AUSTIN Company's Index of Industrial Building Costs rose by.5 percent for the fourth quarter of 1992, closing at 1146.05. The index was logged at 1140.27 at the end of the third quarter of 1992.
In the Southeast, labor and material costs remained relatively stable. In the Midwest, increases were noted in ready-mix concrete, earthwork and labor supervision.
The Austin Index is based on a quarterly pricing of a standard manufacuring plant and its adjoining office building.
