The committee was given two goals, neither has been obtained and progress is slow. This committee is vital for future manpower requirements. A training needs survey must be conducted. I suggest greater focus by all MCAA officers and staff for the coming year.

Education Committee (co-chaired by Harold Kochan and John Smith) The committee has done an outstanding job this past year as already noted.

Finance Committee (chaired by Don Larson) The committee has completely computerized MCAA's accounting system of MCAA which has improved our reporting system.

Insurance Committee (chaired by Ed Boettcher) The committee launched what has turned out to be a very successful program. This program offers members a variety of insurance coverages and is looking into health and workers compensation coverage.

Legislative Committee (co-chaired by Mike Johnston and Alan Griffin) This committee had an extensive list of goals to accomplish and only a few members to do the work. During the year they have been working to educate members on key issues. Legislative updates were mailed to members throughout the year and legislation was monitored in Masonry Magazine and the MCAA newsletter Update. MCAA must participate to a greater degree with the ASC Legislative Conference held in Washington each year. We must also study the need for a political action committee with resources, if we are to compete in this area.

Masonry Panels (chaired by John Smith) This committee is always active. But two goals remain to be accomplished: publishing of articles and the producing of a publication on the use of panels.

Marketing Committee (co-chaired by Robert Scherman and James Cope) The committee has accomplished the development of the membership referral program, which to date has referred over $15-million in projects to the membership. To date nearly 100 members have completed the profile and have been computerized for referral. Their goal is to have all members profiled and refer over $125-million each year.

Masonry Magazine Review Committee (co-chaired by Don Larson and Richard Felice) Along with our editor, Mr. Gene Adams, this committee has been active in upgrading the image of Masonry Magazine. Continued focus will be on the editorial content, advertising sales and subscriptions.

Material Handling Committee (under the outstanding leadership of Ed Smith) The committee has upgraded the caliber of the material handling showcase at the Masonry Expo. This committee also oversaw the development of the rough terrain.

We're one year into our long range plan and it has been successful in focusing our association on our goal of becoming the leader for all mason contractors.

Way To The Top A Solid Work Platform Non-Stop towers are built from heavy gauge tubular steel and trussed every 6 in height. This gives our 16" wide towers incredible strength and sway-resistance. Because of this advantage, you can safely land materials on the laborers' platform, exactly where other systems tell you to never land a load. In actual on-the-job tests of free-standing Non-Stop towers, landing a full cube of 12 blocks (2350 pounds) on the laborers' platform at 20 feet high produced a backward flex of less than one inch! This kind of strength and stability means your men will feel safe and secure on a solidworking platform. And, you can safely stock ahead to free your Forklift for other duties.

X-Braces Stay In Place The x-braces are always in place for maximum safety and stability. They simply pass through the work platform both going up and coming down. Non-Stop introduced this unique design to eliminate the dangerous, time-consuming chore of removing and replacing x-braces as the platform is raised. When the wall is topped out, Non Stop can be lowered and ready to go to work again in one-third the time of scaffolding without this feature This advantage reduces your laborers' duties to only two feeding materials to the masons, and raising the scaffold as needed.
