Membership Committee (co-chaired by Anthony Zotollo and Richard Felice) The committee launched a national membership blitz campaign, mailing brochures to prospects nationwide. Allied associations so distributed additional brochures to get the name of MCAA out to as many potential members as possible. With the addition of Tom Joseph, our new membership director, who is now on staff, this committee should meet its long range goals.

Safety Committee-(chaired by Don Grant) This committee has worked closely with the Education Committee in development of the safety program mentioned earlier. This program includes a written plan, Tool Box Talks, and a video, as well as a new safety telephone hot line.

Research-MCAA continues to be a full member and sponsor of the Council of Masonry Research (CMR). This committee is headed by Richard Felice and Don Grant. CMR is sponsored by MCAA, along with Brick Institute of America, National Concrete Masonry Association, The Masonry Society, The National Lime Association and The Portland Cement Association.

Looking Ahead

I consider it more essential to look to the future than to dwell on the past. Our association will always have new challenges like the one we're now having with BAC. But we must look to the end of this century and beyond. We need to ask ourselves what major trends in technology, employment, education are most likely to evolve during the next two decades. Will MCAA be ready for these changes?

A few years ago I stated that today, we're outnumbered we're outspent -and we have been outmaneuvered and outsold. This may be even truer today. As contractors, we must stand together and support one another, and set aside political turf jealousies in the process. That we understand in an era of fewer resources and depleted assets, we cannot afford divisive internal competition and expect to compete in today's world.

I can assure you that MCAA will continue to expand its programs to its membership. I remind each member that you get out of your association what you put into it. Get involved! Get involved with the working committees and programs offered to you. I can guarantee you will never say "What do I get for my dues?" The answer will be clear.

Remember that MCAA is the one investment that you make, that will pay off again and again.

In closing, I want to thank the staff of our association, and all my fellow officers for their support during the past two years. My thanks go out to the hundreds of members across the U.S. and Canada who have given me encouragement and unending support.

It has been a privilege to serve.
