the masonry industry.

This year the contractor educational program was expanded to go more in depth with a deeper focus on the essentials. Traditionally offering 8 seminars aimed to train top personnel, the 2001 program offered 20 sessions in 4 concentrated areas to better educate all masonry professionals. Additional programs included powerful networking events, national skills competitions, an entire program for architects and even charitable Habitat for Humanity projects.

The MCAA Masonry Showcase is an entire display of what the masonry industry encompasses. The 2002 Masonry Showcase will be held February 6-9 in Phoenix, Arizona.

FASTEST TROWEL

Once again the Fastest Trowel on the Block Competition, sponsored by Spec Mix, was an amazing display of craftsmanship and skill. Sixteen contestants from around the country, including five past national award winners, competed for a cash award of $5,000 and an array of prizes. The crowds were deafening as the contestants ran on adrenaline alone at the end of the 20-minute heat. Returning 2000 Fastest Trowel Champion Jeff Goebel of Sutter Masonry, Phoenix, Arizona, walked away with first place for the second year in a row. The challengers for the 2002 title are already lining up for the contest to be held next February 9 in Mr. Goebel's hometown of Phoenix.

Attendees were invited onto the set of the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular to experience the Cairo Celebration.

MGM STUDIOS WELCOME RECEPTION

Guests of the Masonry Showcase were treated to an exclusive evening at the Disney MGM Studios Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. The traditional Indiana Jones attraction awed spectators, but everyone was caught by surprise as the stage opened and attendees were invited onto the set.
