# ST. LOUIS MASON CONTRACTORS RECEIVE ILLINOIS EXCELLENCE IN MASONRY AWARD
St. Louis, MO-The John J. Smith Masonry Co. and Marvin Peebles Masonry, both of St. Louis, have received Excellence in Masonry Awards from the Masonry Institute of Southern Illinois. The two firms have been honored for their work on the new public library in East St. Louis, a joint venture. The awards were announced at the Masonry Institute of Southern Illinois's awards program held April 18th.
In awarding the organization's highest citation, the judges noted that they were impressed by both the high quality of the craftsmanship as well as the strength of the Kennedy Associates design, which relied heavily on a variety of masonry materials, including stone, brick, glazed masonry units and glass block.
John J. Smith Masonry Co., headquartered in South St. Louis County, is the eighth largest mason contractor in the United States. Specializing in commercial and industrial projects, the company has won national recognition for its masonry work.
# MASONRY INSTITUTE OF AMERICA MOVES OFFICES
Los Angeles, May 29, 2001: After 33 years at the same location, the Masonry Institute of America (MIA) announced the relocation of their offices to the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance as of June 1, 2001.
Executive Director, John Chrysler, also announced that MIA has installed a new telephone system that will quickly route calls and provide for simpler and more efficient publication ordering by telephone, fax, or over the internet.
Announcements were mailed in late May and early June to over 12,000 architects, engineers, contractors and other interested parties throughout the United States.

# QUIKRETE OFFICIALLY APPOINTS LOVE NEW CFO
