A technical center for Central Europe has been established in Vienna, Austria. For the past five years, he was senior vice president in charge of Lafarge's Corporate Technical Services Center (CTS) in Montreal, which provides testing services and product research for all of Lafarge's cement operations in the United States and Canada. Before joining Lafarge, he was employed in the engineering division of Clecim, a supplier of equipment and systems for the steel and aluminum industries.

MK Diamond Acquires Canoga Equipment
MK Diamond Products, a leading manufacturer of construction power tools for the tile, stone, concrete and masonry industries, announced that it has acquired Canoga Equipment, a division of Southeast Construction Supply based in South El Monte, Calif.

Since 1945, Canoga Equipment has been manufacturing the professional grade mixers and construction equipment relied on by professionals for consistent, on-the-job performance and value.

The acquisition of Canoga Equipment strengthens MK Diamond's position in the masonry market while creating new prospects for expansion in the rental and construction supply marketplace. The deal represents a major opportunity for MK Diamond Products to advance its leadership in the construction power tools industry.

Powers Fasteners Moves to Larger World Headquarters Building
After 50 years in the same building in New Rochelle, Powers Fasteners Inc. has moved its world headquarters 40 miles north to a large ultra-modern complex in Brewster, N.Y. The corporate headquarters facility directs the manufacturing in Hudson, Mich., and the logistics of 40 other company-run facilities in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Europe.

JLG Appoints North American Marketing Director
David Baxter has been appointed director of North American marketing and market development at JLG Industries Inc., reporting to Craig Paylor, senior vice president North American sales, marketing and customer support.

In his new role, Baxter will be responsible for marketing communications, product management, market research, economic analysis, branding and merchandising, as well as assuming responsibility for marketing JLG's four brands of telehandlers - SkyTrak®, Lull, Gradall® and JLG.

Baxter is an industry veteran having spent nearly seven years in product development and marketing at UpRight Inc. before joining JLG five years ago. At JLG, he has led the market research and information analytics processes and has worked on various projects related to acquisition integration and marketing planning.

Acme Brick Celebrates 115th Birthday With Giant "Berk-Day" Cake
Acme Brick celebrated the company's April 17th birthday with an extraordinary cake measuring three feet by six feet. Created by Creative Bakery and Designs, it displayed the logos of 78 companies; 40 of the logos represent Berkshire companies that are wholly owned operating businesses, such as Acme. The second was companies in which Berkshire has a major stock holding, such as: The Coca-Cola Company, Geico, Proctor and Gamble, American Express and Home Depot.

Each of the 2,913 employees in the Acme family of companies will receive a beach towel birthday present bearing a likeness of the "Berk-Day" cake.
