Blaisdell Joins GZA GeoEnvironmental
Andrew R. Blaisdell, P.E., G.E., has joined GeoEnvironmental Inc.'s Portland, Maine, office. Blaisdell brings more than five years of experience as a senior engineer at Haley & Aldrich in Portland to his new role with GZA. His experience also includes four years as a project engineer at Treadwell & Rollo, Inc., in San Francisco and Oakland, Calif. Blaisdell earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., and a Master of Science degree in civil engineering with a geotechnical emphasis from the University of California at Berkley. A resident of Scarborough, Maine, Blaisdell holds professional registrations in civil engineering in California and Maine, and registration as a geotechnical engineer in California. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Hitch Receives ASTM International Award of Merit
Jenny L. Hitch, director of marketing at Full Circle Solutions Inc. in Jasper, Ga, has received the ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow. The Award of Merit is ASTM's highest recognition for individual contributions to standards activities. Hitch was honored for her outstanding contributions to the development of ASTM standards and for her leadership in the operations of ASTM Committees 009 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates and D18 on Soil and Rock. She currently serves as C09 membership secretary and chairs the groups on strategic planning (C01.90.01) and supplementary cementitious materials (C09.24). Hitch has been honored with several other ASTM awards, including three Standards Development Awards, the Technical Editors Award, a Special Service Award, and the A. Ivan Johnson Outstanding Achievement Award, all from Committee D18, and the Award of Appreciation from Committee C09. She also received the Award for Excellence in Symposium and Publication Management from the ASTM Committee on Publications, where she served a six-year term from 2000 to 2006.

Barnhart Agrees to Purchase Powell's Crane Rental Division
Barnhart Crane & Rigging and Powell Companies have reached a definitive agreement, under which Barnhart will purchase Powell's crane rental division, which has locations in Knoxville and Johnson City, Tenn. Powell's crane rental division has served the Tiri-Cities and surrounding areas for 40 years. This transaction was completed with little or no job disruption or displacement, and will allow Powell to give greater focus and commitment to their core businesses.
With this agreement, Powell's former crane rental division customers will now be working with one of the nation's leading crane, heavy rigging and heavy transportation companies. Currently, Barnhart has 23 branches nationwide, including offices in Knoxville and Kingsport, and has one of the nation's largest equipment inventories, including electronic steer Goldhofer trailers, cranes to 1,760 tons, sliding systems, strand jacks, and the Modular Lift Tower system.
Pertl Joins Indiana Cut Stone
Indiana Cut Stone hired Ron Perti as leader of their sales team. Pertl is a graduate of Luther College of Decorah, Iowa, and has had a long career in the Indiana Limestone industry. He brings almost 30 years of limestone restoration project experience with E & H Restoration of Davenport, lowa, and of Mid-Continental Restoration of Indianapolis to Indiana Cut Stone. Pertl will be instrumental in growing all segments of Indiana Cut Stone's limestone fabrication business.
