Regional Winners Will Head to the 2015 SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 World Championship

The winners of each Regional contest have earned a spot to take on the returning 2014 World Champion and Top Craftsman winner at the 2015 SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 World Championship held in Las Vegas, Nev., on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the 2015 World of Concrete/World of Masonry trade show. With as many as 4,000 spectators in attendance and 24 world-class masons competing for over $100,000 in cash and prizes, the SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 is the single largest masonry competition in the construction industry. The champion is awarded the title “World’s Best Bricklayer” and handed the keys to drive home in the grand prize, a new Ford F-250 4x4 Super Duty Truck.

The 2015 SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 World Championship is ranked as the top attraction during the World of Concrete tradeshow, this super-sized masonry party takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center’s Gold Lot with the very best who lay brick starting at 12:15 PM. You will see an unbelievable bricklaying competition that the competitors themselves describe as “INTENSE!” At the same time live product demos of the latest and greatest point the way to profitability and there are sponsor giveaways that will rock the crowd of masons and those who love masonry. You will hear the key members of masonry associations speak about the future of 21st Century masonry and key issues that will keep our trade strong. Simply put, this is the biggest masonry party on the planet and you don’t want to miss it!
Established by SPEC MIX, Inc. in 2003 to showcase the skill and craftsmanship of professional masons, the SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 is a two-person team competition consisting of a mason and a mason tender that are given 60 minutes to construct a 26 foot 8 inch, double wythe brick wall while meeting strict quality standards. Judged by over 30 highly qualified industry experts, the award places are based on the highest brick counts meeting the quality standards and competition rules. Following the Champion distinction, the second most coveted title is the SPEC MIX TOP CRAFTSMAN award that the panel of judges rates ”the most sellable wall” meeting the required 500 brick count.
The preliminary SPEC MIX TOUGHEST TENDER event where the top mason tenders go head to head for the fastest time setting up their bricklayer’s work station with $2,500 on the line will be held at 10:45 AM. Two other exciting under card events, the MCAA’s Masonry Skills Challenge starting at 9:00 AM and the MCAA’s Fastest Trowel on the Block at 11:30 AM will get the get the masonry crowd charged up.
As a new addition to the SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 World Championship competition this year, SPEC MIX, Inc. and our co-sponsor family are joining together in support of the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation (CFPF). This non-profit foundation provides post-secondary education funds for the surviving children of military personal of all services who have died while in military service. CFPF has the highest charitable organization rating possible and ensures 100% of all funds raised go directly to the educational support of the surviving children. It is our honor to promote general awareness of the Foundation’s important mission during our bricklaying competition and raise donations for CFPF.
