Report of the MCAA Membership Committee

Words: Josh Naragon, Bob Birdsell
Renewals
The MCAA is currently in the process of the renewal cycle. At the time of the report, the renewals stood a little more than $490,000. There are still several significant chapters outstanding that will account for approx. $90,000 in renewal dues. That would give us about $580,000 in renewals. In addition there are still quite a few members at large that remain un paid and the committee is confident that we will close the gap and come very close to the $675,000 of dues which was budgeted for.

New Dues
At the time of this writing the MCAA had eight new members. We have budgeted $75,000 or about 79 new members. We have seen a recent uptick in not only new members (for the time of year) but also an increase in companies expressing interest in membership. We are confident that we will at least match the budgeted amount.

PR Plan
The MCAA has hired a PR firm to work with the membership committee to actively go out and seek new members. This will be done by a variety of means including direct mail (6 times) to over 1500 of the top non-member firms in the country. We will also be increasing the MCAA exposure to media in general through an aggressive pr program which will include press releases and information al articles prepared and distributed by the pr firm. The plan will be reviewed mid-year to check effectiveness and the most effective programs will be utilized to begin a major effort to bring in new members utilizing the HW convention mail list.

New Membership Director
The MCAA is quite pleased to announce the selection of Bob Birdsell as the new Director of Membership. Bob will work in the coming months to solidify a group of hard working individuals for our membership team and will implement the aggressive plan for membership growth the MCAA plans to implement this year.

New State Chapters
The MCAA is proud to announce the formation of two new state chapters which begun working hand in hand with the MCAA July 1 this year. The Ohio Masonry Association and the Indiana Concrete Masonry Association now have direct affiliations with the MCAA and we look forward to working with their members and Executive Director (Josh Naragon) to build these two groups. The MCAA is eager to pursue additional state group affiliations as this seems to be one of the most effective ways of membership growth for the future.

Convention
The MCAA membership committee is very excited to be looking forward to convention as a prime opportunity to recruit new members. The committee has set a goal of 30 new members from this year's convention and we hope to exceed those expectations. We plan to work with our new PR firm to implement a short training program for all of our volunteer members who will be working our booth. In addition, we expect to have a greater presence and influence at the Wednesday evening contractor party. Expect to see new and exciting ways of the recruitment for the MCAA as a whole at this year's program.
