The MCAA Convention at World of Concrete/World of Masonry is less than two weeks away. Below are just a few of the many "can't miss" events taking place throughout the week.

VISION 2020 Programs

The MCAA will be rolling out the VISION 2020 education programs at this year's convention, all programs will be in S232. There is no fee for the courses and the schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, February 2
11:00 am - The Community Planners World
Noon - Enacting a Masonry Planning Policy
1:00 pm - Sustainability in the Masonry Planning Process
2:00 pm - Marketing Your Message

MAC PAC

The MAC PAC will be the reception before the Opening Dinner. The Opening Dinner does not have a reception other than the MAC PAC and the MAC PAC requires a separate contribution for attendance (Federal Law requires PAC funds be from personal accounts, so company checks are not accepted). This year's MAC PAC reception is scheduled to have special guest speaker Danny Tarkanian who is among three candidates vying for the opportunity to run against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Mr. Tarkanian will discuss the upcoming campaign and current legislative events. This is an event you will not want to miss.

South of 40

South of 40 will be having their first meeting at the convention. The meeting will be held on Wednesday February 3 at 11 am in S224. There will be a lunch served, there is no fee, but pre registration is required. Please call the MCAA office at 800-536-2225 to confirm your attendance. This is the beginning of a new dynamic group for folks under the age of 40.

Union Group Meeting

The MCAA will be holding their second meeting for union members only to discuss issues of importance to them. This year we will have a special guest to inform participants about the new trowel trades insurance program. If you are a union contractor come to this event and discuss issues affecting your area and see how other areas have either dealt with them or are dealing with them currently. This program will take place on Thursday, February 4th at 9:30 am in S224.

Closing Banquet

The MCAA final banquet will be held in the Venetian in the Sands Convention Center area (look at the reader board for specific room). The dinner will be the changing of the MCAA officers and will include a short roast of outgoing President Tom Daniel. After the dinner, guests will make their way across the street to the Mirage where they will take in the show "LOVE" a tribute to the Beatles.

Committee Meetings

The MCAA will be holding all our committee meetings at the convention they will run on Tuesday, February 2 from 7:30 am — 10:30 am in S230. They will run one after another. The remainder of the meetings will be held on Wednesday February 3 from 7:30 am — 11:30 am. Be a part of a committee and be a part of the decision making and implementation process of your organization. Current committee members and people who are not currently on a committee are encouraged to attend.
